How to operate the imagination? What causes the combination of images of new designs?

There is a special case of association of ideas. That is how ideas are followed in our mind without any intervention of our will.

But our ideas or our images, butt back in the order in which they succeeded once: it is memory, simple repetition of the past or they reappear in a new sequence, different from the first series : it’s creative imagination.
